Tara Flannery Photography LLC was established in 2010. I photograph the greater Houston, TX area but am based in Spring and The Woodlands. I specialize in family portraits, senior portraits, headshots & corporate photography, events, and weddings. My daughter was born in 2005 and shortly after that we bought our first DSLR camera. The point and shoot camera that we were using was so slow that by the time the shutter clicked, she was half way across the house. With the new DSLR in hand, I started shooting my own family and then friends and I fell in love with everything to do with photography. I learned from everything that I could get my hands on: classes, manuals, training courses, books, and lots of trial and error! More than that though, photography is in my blood… My dad has had a passion for photography for as long as I can remember. When I was growing up, there were photographs on the wall of men hanging off of oil barges in the middle of the ocean, native people from countries across the globe, gorgeous hot air balloons, and me. An award-winning silhouette of 4-year-old Tara spinning on the beach with my hair extended in every direction. I can see that photograph in my head right now. My interest in photography ranges from a spiritual, contemplative practice to the practical (think insurance). I love it when time slows down and I discover things in nature that normally, I never would have seen. But the best part of photography for me is the human connection. I absolutely love interacting with people and seeing that sparkle, a look, the connection. It is honoring that part of ourselves that is real. That is true. That is beautiful. “…the truth is that the holy is spilling everywhere: in the broken flower pot, in the cat missing one eye, in the dark and stormy day, in the moment of opening that comes after years of feeling suffocated, in your own beautiful heart, and in the hearts of everyone you meet.” ~ Christine Valters Paintner, Eyes of the Heart
