Raised in Victoria, Virginia, Barry Ridgeway attributes his no-nonsense approach and easy-going manner to his small-town roots. After graduating from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!), with a BA in Communication Studies (Broadcasting) and English minor, Barry moved to Richmond and started his TV career at “the South’s First Television Station” WTVR-TV6. Next Barry worked for Heilig-Meyers Furniture Company in Richmond. Over the next 12 years, Barry introduced the small video department to new creative techniques and equipment, taking and their productions to the next level. Heilig-Meyers’ small-town geographic plan allowed Barry to work with store employees all over the south, company executives in Richmond and even the company’s NASCAR team. During this time, Barry also received his MS degree in Media Management from VCU. Over the years, Barry has produced videos for many charitable organizations including Habitat For Humanity, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Virginia Blood Services, FeedMore, The Virginia Tech Alumni Association and more. Freelance endeavors led Barry to HRH Insurance, where he learned about print graphics and design, while also creating their corporate videos. As needed, Barry coached executives about on-camera delivery, the use of the teleprompter, and presentation skills. From 2008 to mid-2013, Barry worked as Production Manager for Southern Virginia at Comcast Spotlight, the local advertising division of Comcast. Barry managed four employees and produced TV commercials for many local businesses and agencies. Along the way, Barry won five Telly Awards and was a national finalist in the Cable Advertising Bureau Awards two years in a row. In August of 2013, with the desire for more flexibility and diversity of projects, Barry founded Ridgeway Creative LLC. We pride ourselves on a no non-sense approach, professional results, creative work and pleased clients.
