Photo Journalism
During the year 2008, I traveled throughout my home country of Guatemala. I had just returned from a year of studying documentary photography. I wanted to create a very personal body of work which avoided the usual photojournalistic images of Guatemala. It was important for me to document my world and to capture those brief intervals of life; those fleeting moments of ambiguity. I wanted to bring to the surface imagery from dreams and giving form to stuff that had been floating around in my head. Nevertheless, the photos in my collection are of real events and moments in time. Diario de Guatemala is not only about documenting a physical space but an also an emotional space.
