Kyle Romanek, born Nov. 7, 1991 in Silver Spring, Md., began his journey as a filmmaker at a young age. His aspirations to be involved in film first came about early in his childhood when he began using his parents' 8 mm camera and DV tape to produce short films in his spare time with family and neighborhood friends. This early introduction served as the foundation to his gradual understanding of communication, composition and storytelling techniques, as well as artistic concepts. After graduating from high school, a passion for sports led Romanek to play football and lacrosse at Bethany College in West Virginia, where he also studied communication and contributed to technical theater, short films and live events. Here, Romanek uncovered deep-rooted leadership skills and found motivation to pursue further roles as a leader. After spending a little over a year working in theater and competing in film festivals with an indie production company, Romanek made the decision to pursue his childhood dream and attend Full Sail University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree of Science in film. During his time at Full Sail, he directed several short films, music videos, commercials, documentaries and a non-broadcast HD production. Since Graduation he has attended the Creative Minds in Cannes Filmmaking Institute in Cannes, France where he directed a short film while promoting another film in the Short Film Corner. Assisted on both Reality and Scripted Television on the East Coast for shows airing on Travel Channel, Lifetime and TLC. He has also written and directed his debut feature film, "Astray," which is currently making the rounds in the festival circuit. Romanek continues to dream and conceptualize ideas each day in preparation for an exhilarating and unpredictable future.
