GERARD M. CAHILL- BIO Gerard Cahill was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy, including time spent in the Vietnam War Zone, he went on to graduate, with honors from the New York University School of The Arts in Film And Television Gerard moved to Los Angeles in 1975 to work on several film projects at The American Film Institute. He was offered and took a position as an Assistant Editor at FilmCore, editing national Television Commercials for broadcast. Working his way up to full Editor, He won a prestigious Clio Award for his trailer campaign for Ingmar Bergman’s ‘THE LIFE OF THE MARIONETTES”. From there he was offered the chance to Edit Feature Films for Avco Embassy Pictures AND American Intertnational Pictures, in Los Angeles. It was during this time that Gerard struck success as a Screenwriter with a script for a feature length film, ‘SURVIVAL RUN” Released through American International. That was followed up by “THE LONG LOST FRIEND” Produced by Howard Grossman Productions. Gerard also Edited several Motion Pictures in Canada for Avco Embassy Pictures, “THE HOT TOUCH”, and “TULIPS”, released through 20TH Century Fox Films. He also directed the second unit action on those films in Montreal. Upon returning to Los Angeles, he was hired by CBS Entertainment as a Writer/Producer for network primetime promotion, where he wrote and produced main title opens, sales films, and promo/teaser/trailers for many of CBS’ prime time hits of the 80’s and 90’s, “DALLAS”, “THE DUKES OF HAZZARD”, and “WALKER, TEXAS RANGER” among them. He was nominated for a Writer’s Guild Award for his landmark promotion campaign for “LONESOME DOVE” for CBS Entertainment. After 20 years at CBS in Los Angeles, Gerard moved to the Bay Area to teach editing at the Bay Area Video Coalition and took a job once again as a Writer/Producer/Director at CBS 5 in San Francisco. Here he won an Emmy Award for directing an epic television documentary about the Aids/Lifecycle ride “A JOURNEY OF PURPOSE”. Gerard Founded BELLEISLE ENTERTAINMENT in 2008 to produce local TV commercials and Specials. BelleIsle’s clients have included CBS 5, KRON 4 TV, NBC Bay Area, Downtown Toyota, Barclay’s Bank, Jacuzzi Hot Tubs, Blue Shield and many more. Currently BelleIsle Entertainment is providing the production and post-production for the acclaimed weekly series “THE REAL DEAL” running every Monday on NBC Bay Area and “SAVE YOUR LIFE” a Telly Award winning special for CBS 5TV. Gerard has also met with some acclaim as a teacher at The Academy of Art University, in San Francisco, where he taught motion picture and television editing and production classes at the University level. Gerard Cahill and BelleIsle Entertainment is expanding into new areas. Having recently re-located to Buffalo, N.Y. where he and the company are beginning to build on the past successes towards a new future on the east coast.
