The longest lines during Black Friday are usually for retail stores such as Walmart, Best Buy and Target. I say skip the lines and do your shopping online, but call me new fashion. I know many people who can’t resist the great deals and put up with the crowded and sometimes frightening experience.
If you were doing your shopping online, then you may have come across Walmart’s Top Toys page. Full disclosure: I used to work for Walmart.com, but that’s not why I’m giving them the coveted Steve Young’s two thumbs up. They did a fantastic job of incorporating video into their landing page. The video screen shot slides with each new featured toy making me want to watch the video more and more. And the video itself brings us all back to our very first memory of opening a gift near a holiday shrubbery (my attempt at being PC).
I’m curious to see the lift in sales this video has caused. And there’s no doubt in my mind that it has definitely increased user engagement. There’s no image or text that can bring such emotional connections than what this video was able to bring. It sure made me want to buy all the toys for my son.
