The SmartShoot Creative Community is packed with talent and passion and we love sharing that with the world. This week we’re featuring Steven Poe, a photography director and multimedia producer in Emeryville, California.
Behind the scenes at one of Steven’s shoots.
How did you get started as a photographer?
I first started making pictures in high school working on the yearbook. Then I studied photographic science in college and started assisting commercial/advertising photographers.
The following photos were all taken by Steven Poe.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love the creative production process (dream, plan, do) and working with different groups of people. Usually we are working with an idea or a communication problem to solve. Either way it’s going into the unknown and producing real tangible visual media results. Delivering a photo/video product that helps a client with their business is a thrill each and every time.
What advice would you give to a new professional?
Feed your soul and never stop producing personal projects. Visualize where you want to be in seven years, and listen to your quiet inner voice on how to get there.
Why do you work with SmartShoot?
I think of SmartShoot as the modern digital agent. When working as a commercial photographer and filmmaker the days are long, so having a team of professionals delivering RFP’s, providing administration, and the time consuming pre-sales customer service it’s slightly better than fantastic.
