We like to have a little fun around the SmartShoot office, so when we kept seeing Ask.com billboards around the city asking about the Bay Bridge Troll, we had to look into it. Turns out, there really might be something to it.

Legend says that during repairs made to the Bay Bridge after the 1989 Lomo-Prieta earthquake, a steelworker created the troll and welded him to the bottom of the bridge for only those sailing underneath to see.

This all sounded like too much of a scam, so we sent our own Adam Hoffman out to document an attempt to find the Bay Bridge Troll. Here’s what he found.
